2006 Fonsainte "Gris de Gris"

So my first post after deciding to write about things other than wine.  A post about wine of course. Just opened a bottle and felt compelled to write something.  This wine is a gorgeous strawberry color.  It super fresh rose that must have just hit the market because it's an 06.  Great sweet aromas and fruit to match.  Nectarines, cherries.  But not cloying at all.  Super rose.  This may be my go-to wine of the summer.

This rose hails from Corbieres, a region of the Languedoc of southern France.  The winery, Domain Fontsainte, has long been a pioneer in the region.

It's imported by our good buddy Kermit Lynch to boot.

Holy Freaking Corkiness

Its been a while since the cork bug hit like this.  Five bottles in about a week.  It seems like months since I've had a corked or otherwise significantly off bottle, and we drink about a bottle a night.  Last week was silly though.  Both nights at dinner in Sonoma, one at Porter Creek Winery, and then two different bottles at Pizza Pico in Larkspur. 

Maybe thats why the last three bottles I've opened have all been screwcaps.

The culprits:

2002 Chehalem Reserve Pinot-  Was really looking forward to this one cause the last bottle I had was awesome.

1999 Chevillion Pruliers-  Ditto the Chehalem

2004 Porter Creek Zin

Great New Site

If you haven't been to calwineries.com yet, you should check it out.  It is one of the best organized, well conceived websites, wine related or other wise, out there today.  They've got all kinds of great information and an interesting and active community.

There pretty new so I'll be interested to watch them as they grow.
